Bake Up a Little Love

the basics • Whether you are new to the baking world or a seasoned pro, mastering these recipes will up your game!

PIDE TOPPINGS

sourdough • Mix up one of our sourdough starters and keep it in the fridge or freezer to make these delicious treats.

SOURDOUGH STARTERS • The two sourdough starters here are used to leaven bread in a number of the recipes in this chapter. Starter A relies on a small amount of yeast to start the fermentation process, resulting in a stable starter with a less pronounced sour taste. Starter B is activated by the interaction between the ascorbic acid present in pineapple juice and naturally present bacteria in flour. The pH level of pineapple is just right for encouraging the bacteria activity by passing some of the more harmful bacteria that often result in a starter spoiling. It has a more pronounced sour taste than Starter A.

sweet breads • We think going through the effort to make bread is so much better when you know you’ll get a sweet treat at the end.

quick breads • When we want recipes with quicker prep than traditional breads, we turn to the delicious options right here.

SCONE VARIATIONS

healthier breads • For some, bread is an indulgence reserved for special occasions. These good-for-you recipes will change that!

GLUTEN-FREE BREAD VARIATIONS

pastries & little things • Some of these delicious minis may seem fussy at first, but the step-by-step instructions will show you the way.
